Police in New Rochelle are warning residents to keep a close eye on your package deliveries.
According to investigators there's been an uptick in thefts over the past month.
Police say the thefts were actually down this year, then in September there were several incidents in New Rochelle. One resident had a package containing three new iPhones that was taken in just a matter of minutes.
Police say they believe the thieves follow the delivery trucks then quickly move in and out to snatch up the packages.
Investigators say they attribute the increase to the time of year as we approach the holiday season.
New Rochelle police Captain J. Collins Coyne says people may want to have their packages sent to a delivery spot, instead of their home. For example, the Amazon pickup locations that are set up at Whole Foods. Police say it's a good idea especially if you are getting a package with high value and you know you won't be home.
Police say if you catch the thieves' license plate on your ring cameras get it to them right away — that can help investigators track them.
If you are getting something of high value, police say to make sure someone is home to get it right away.
