There is an urgent warning from police around the Hudson Valley about the packages being delivered to homes.
"Anyone at any moment can come in and take your belongings and have no remorse," says New Rochelle resident Cinthya Aguilar.
Just three minutes is how long it took for a package containing three iPhones to be snatched up from Aguilar's home.
"No hesitation, he knew actually where he was going for, where the package was left and what was in it," Aguilar explains.
It happened in the 200 block of Clove Road in New Rochelle. Her Ring cameras captured it all.
"It's almost like you have a false sense of security," says Aguilar.
Police in New Rochelle say so far this year, these kinds of thefts are actually down. But last month, they had multiple reports come in.
"Since Sept. 1, we've had four reported porch pirate type larcenies," says Capt. J. Collins Coyne, with New Rochelle police.
Capt. Coyne says this time of year is when cases start ticking back up because of holiday shopping. Something they are really keeping a close eye on is how quickly these thieves are swooping in.
"We are assuming that these porch pirate thieves are following the trucks because they have to have some knowledge of when these items are going to be delivered," says Coyne.
Capt. Coyne urges people to stay diligent of their packages.
On top of that, he says if anyone is a victim of one of these thefts, they should make sure to get the license plate number of the suspect and report it to police right away.
