A two-family home on 29 Fanley Avenue in Spring Valley was heavily damaged by fire Tuesday morning.

Spring Valley Fire Chief Ray Canario said flames were shooting out of a second-floor window when crews arrived after getting a call around 7:20 a.m.

Canario said it took firefighters about five minutes to put out the fire.

No injuries were reported, and the one person inside the home was able to get out safely.

Investigators say they found an illegal sub-division inside, making it a three-family home.
