A day care worker from Brooklyn is facing criminal charges after police say she left two toddlers at the Westfield Mall in Bay Shore.

The children were found playing by themselves near J.C. Penney and Panera Bread Wednesday afternoon.

Police tell News 12 that 2-year-old Tyler and 3-year-old Abigail were taken to the mall by day care aide Nicole Noble, 34, from the Elite Christian Day Care in Brooklyn. The toddlers have been reunited with their parents.

Authorities say the children were dropped off at the day care center Wednesday morning, one at 8:30 a.m., the other at 10:30 a.m. They say at 1:15 p.m., Noble was seen on security video entering Macy's with the two kids right behind her holding hands.

Detective Lt. Darrel Simmons says that at 1:26 p.m., video captures the two children exiting Macy's with no adult with them.

Prosecutors told the judge that Noble admitted that she was trying to teach the kids a lesson for playing hide-and-seek by leaving them alone. Simmons says police have no idea why Noble came all the way to Bay Shore to go to the mall.

Noble was arraigned in Central Islip Thursday on two counts of abandonment and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
