Three students in Pleasantville were rushed to the hospital after smoking synthetic marijuana.
Police say six kids got sick after smoking the substance, called "spice." The kids are students at Pleasantville High School on Romer Avenue.
The incident occurred in a parking lot located in the downtown section of Pleasantville after school hours.
School Superintendent Mary Fox-Alter would not identify the students or give their ages, but she says they are all fine now and will be disciplined.
The chief of police tells News 12 he hopes this is a wake-up call to both parents and students. He says just because these drugs can be bought in stores does not mean they are safe.
Both police and school officials are calling on more educational programs for students and parents on drugs like "spice."
Officials say it is not clear where the students got the synthetic marijuana. Earlier reports saying the students found it in the parking lot of the school are not true.
