As George Pataki's final term in office comes to a close, the governor contemplated his political future at his Peekskill office Tuesday.
In a matter of days, Pataki's third term as New York's highest executive will be complete. Without a clear-cut favorite for the White House in 2008, supporters and critics alike wonder if Pataki will throw his hat in as a presidential candidate. Pataki himself says he isn't sure, and he is busy reflecting on what he describes as a successful and gratifying 12-year run in Albany.
Although he did not set a specific timetable for his decision, the governor will announce in the coming months if he will serve as an advocate for Republicans and the issues or as a candidate.
