The Bridgeport Veterans Support Center honored local female combat veterans, including Army veteran Juliet Taylor, to conclude Women’s History Month on Tuesday.

The ceremony recognized the sacrifices and service of women who transitioned from civilian life to combat roles in Iraq, Afghanistan and other theaters of war, then came home to find a new kind of battlefield.

"It's coming back and dealing with the wounds that are visible, and some that are not visible -
and some that are only visible to those of us who served." Taylor said.

Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim said the women "epitomize the spirit of America from start to finish."

"We can never thank our women veterans enough. Today is a real tribute to so many of them, and our way of saying, humbly, thank you," Ganim said.
