Tuesday was Goya Gives Day.

Goya – the largest Hispanic-owned food company – is based in New Jersey. The company is donating 1 million pounds of food nationwide.

Tuesday’s event took place at Goya’s Jersey City headquarters. More than 200 volunteers from nonprofit organizations, local businesses and law enforcement agencies helped to pack thousands of bags of food.

Organizers of the event say that it is all about supporting communities and fighting food insecurity.
