Rockland County was represented in Washington DC Wednesday as local leaders spoke out against busing migrants from NYC to their county.

Orangetown Supervisor Teresa Kenny testified on Capitol Hill about the impact of the migrant crisis on New York City suburbs.     

Earlier this month, New York City Mayor Eric Adams pushed a plan to send roughly 300 asylum seekers to the Armoni Inn and Suites in Orangetown.

Days later, a state judge granted the town a temporary restraining order - blocking that from happening.

"What is happening in Orangetown is not unique. It is playing out throughout communities all over our country as major cities are reaching capacity for migrant housing, and they are sending them to other communities without any regard for whether they have the resources or capabilities to handle them," says Kenney.    

A state of emergency is in effect in Rockland County banning hotels from housing migrants without a permit.
