Off-duty NYPD detective accused of pointing gun at teens during alleged road rage incident in Somers

There are new details about an alleged case of road rage involving an NYPD detective. He's accused of pointing a gun at a group of teenagers in Somers.
It allegedly happened at the end of August on Route 6.
Three 16-year-olds were in a car when they suddenly came to a stop due to changing traffic patterns, according to the Westchester County District Attorney's Office.
The DA's office says court records claim John O'Connell was driving behind, he also was forced to suddenly brake. That's when court records say he pulled alongside the teenagers, rolled down his window and after allegedly yelling he had a gun, pointed a loaded Glock 19 pistol at the driver.
Eventually, the teenagers were able to break off and call police.
"I think it's terrible. I don't like to hear that," says Yorktown Heights resident Kevin Pihota.
Officials say O'Connell was off duty at the time.
NYPD officials say he is currently suspended without pay.
O'Connell has been charged with multiple offenses including endangering the welfare of a child.
He has pleaded not guilty.
Monday evening, his attorney told us 'no comment' after court.
O'Connell is due back in court Oct. 27.
