Four years after federal funds were set aside for security cameras, NYCHA residents at the Gun Hill Houses held a rally to voice that they're fed up with waiting.
On April 22, a 21-year-old was killed in the courtyard of the Gun Hill Houses. Residents stood in the same courtyard to voice their concerns to the head of housing.
Four housing complexes in the district were each alotted $350,000 in federal funding for security systems. Nothing was ever done and residents say NYCHA has said nothing except, "We'll look into it."
A representative for Sen. Ruth Hassell-Thompson, the person that is responsible for securing the federal funding, says that they are hoping new NYCHA leadership will help.
News 12 has reached out to NYCHA, which has not yet responded.
