NY Assembly passes bill to give adoptees access to birth certificates

A new bill that would give adoptees the right to obtain their original birth certificate has passed in the state Assembly.
The proposed law would reverse eight decades of confidentiality.
Legislators passed the bill 126-2 last Thursday during an extended session.
Advocates say the adoption bill is a huge win in their push for equal rights.
The governor now has to sign the bill in order for it to become a law.
