The nurses at Sprain Brook Manor Rehab, located on Jackson Avenue in Yonkers, say they lack the supplies they need to give patients adequate care.
Nurses say they have no supplies and have to wash and reuse 40 catheters, which can lead to urinary tract infections.
The residents also suffer from bed sores, and their caregivers say that only two nurses are assigned to 40 patients.
The fed-up nurses took their concerns to locally elected state officials Wednesday evening at the Riverfront Public Library in Yonkers.
"We love our residents. We treat them like we would treat our own grandparents, and when we don't have the staffing to continue to do what we need to do for everyone, then it falls short and that means people get hurt," Dobson says.
The nurses blame the rehab center's owners - Ari Allen, Lazar Sturlovich and Leopold Schwimmer - for a shortage of supplies, low pay and no health insurance, which leads to quick staff turnaround.
Officials say they plan on taking the long list of concerns straight to the health department.
News 12 reached out to the nursing home's management for comment, but has not yet heard back.
