Many Westchester residents are wondering why they haven’t seen Gov. Andrew Cuomo visit hard-hit communities in the county after two nor’easter knocked out power to tens of thousands of people.
When a reporter confronted the governor, pointing out that he's already toured Puerto Rico three times for its power problems, Gov. Cuomo said he has called for an investigation into the utility companies. He also said he's ready to revoke Con Edison's license for the county, if need be.
“I don’t apply pressure on them by standing in front of a home. I apply pressure on the utility companies by saying you will be penalized,” said Gov. Cuomo.
Some residents told News 12 that they blamed the slow response to widespread power outages on the governor’s decision to send 350 state utility workers to Puerto Rico last year.
Two days after Wednesday's storm, Gov. Cuomo sent out a press release announcing a new initiative to rebuild Puerto Rico. Some homeowners said the governor should focus more on Westchester.
“My house has been 41 degrees for the last nine days. I was wondering if he could live in those conditions,” said Chris Baldassarri, of Ossining.
The governor was unavailable for an interview with News 12. His press office says Gov. Cuomo never lost power in his Mount Kisco home.
