298ds agoNew Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson says he regrets jumping the line to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
Bramson got the vaccine last week when Montefiore New Rochelle hospital offered its unused doses to all city employees and elected officials.
The hospital's plan was abruptly shut down Thursday night after the state Department of Health deemed those vaccinations illegal.
Mayor Noam Bramson tells News 12 he received the vaccine in hopes that it would encourage hesitant city workers to get the shot. He added, "Knowing now that Montefiore New Rochelle's program did not have proper state authorization, I regret my participation."
Officials tell News 12 that according to numbers provided by Montefiore, when the program was suspended Thursday a total of 128 city employees had been vaccinated. A total of 45 of those work in the police department.
