New Jersey's attorney general is suing Mahwah Township over two ordinances he says targets the Jewish community in Rockland County.
One ordinance bans religious Eruv barriers from utility poles while the other, bans non-locals from a park.
The state alleges that the measures target Rockland's Orthodox Jewish community.
The lawsuit seeks the return of more than $3.4 million in state grants if the discriminatory ordinances are not reversed.
In August, the Bergen Rockland Eruv Association filed a federal lawsuit against the town as well.
