Relatives, friends and co-workers said farewell Thursday to a murdered Yonkers cab driver.
Mourners gathered at Saint Peter's Roman Catholic Church in Yonkers to memorialize Geraldo Guitierrez, 29. Family members are shocked at how his life ended.
"Very tragic, we are all very hurt," said Jenny Coste, Guitierrez's cousin. "We want to see better security for all the cab drivers here."
According to police, Guitierrez picked up his last fare May 22. Daquan Duncan, 16, allegedly stabbed the cabbie before taking a GPS system, cell phone and $281. Duncan and his friend, 16-year-old Adam Arroyo, are charged in the case.
Guitierrez leaves behind a wife in the Dominican Republic. Relatives are raising money to return his body to that country, where a second funeral will be held.
