More than a dozen people are displaced after a fire broke out in multifamily home early Sunday morning in Yonkers.
Fire officials say the blaze started on the first floor of the three-story home on Knowles Street at around 5 a.m. The flames quickly spread to the upper floors.
A resident living on the third floor tells News 12 he woke up and smelled smoke, called 911 and rushed to get his family out.
Officials say all three families and three pets inside escaped the home without harm. Some firefighters suffered minor injuries.
The Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.
There is no word on what sparked the fire.
