It's going to cost commuters a little more money to ride Metro-North next year.
The MTA released its 2015 budget, which calls for fares to increase 4 percent. The increase is actually an improvement on the 7.5 percent price hike that MTA had considered.
The rail line will spend nearly $363 million over the next four years to improve service and safety.
The good news is that the MTA is slashing parking fees at its trains stations in Orange and Rockland counties.
Fares for yearly permits will be reduced from $235 to just $20. Daily parking rates are going from $2.75 down to $1.25.
Officials hope reducing these fees could help to attract new customers. The pilot program officially starts in November and will continue for a year.
