Travelers are scrambling to get to and from Florida ahead of Hurricane Irma.

Hundreds of Florida flights have already been canceled, and travel experts say they expect those numbers to rise as airlines finalize their plans.

Most Florida airports are shutting down Friday night ahead of the storm's expected arrival Saturday.

The arrivals board at Westchester County Airport showed all of the flights coming in from Florida experiencing delays. The few heading down to Florida all appeared to be on time Friday.

American Red Cross volunteer Phyllis Herz, of White Plains, is flying down to Atlanta where a staging area is being set up to help Irma victims.

"It does look scary," said Herz. "Red Cross is very organized, we're setting up all of our shelters now, we're setting up all of our services for clients who will need them, and we're going to do the best that we can to ensure everyone's safety."

An agent from JetBlue told News 12 that they seem to be the only ones flying in and out of Florida from Westchester. The agent said many of the people going down to Florida are people going to relatives evacuate or to secure their vacation homes before the storm hits.
