Warm and humid conditions are around through the rest of the day, with light winds at times. There is plenty of moisture in the air that will settle down to the surface overnight. With a very light to calm breeze, patchy fog may set up, especially close to the coastal areas. The skies will clear out overnight into Thursday morning, which will allow temperatures to heat up early on.
By the midday hours, a cold front will slowly be approaching the region. Showers and storms could develop as early as 3-4 p.m. in the Hudson Valley as temperatures top out around that time frame and conditions become optimum for storms.
There is a risk of severe weather in the region, with any strong to severe storm capable of producing damaging winds and small hail. The storms will move from the west, heading east, over the course of the evening. The rain/storm potential will fizzle out between 8-9 p.m. Unlike Tuesday, the storms will be moving at a decent pace through the region. The potential for seeing slow moving storms, dropping torrential rains and causing flood concerns is very low to none.
The cold front sweeps through overnight Thursday into Friday, setting us up for a GEM of a day for the Fourth of July. Temperatures will be at seasonal levels (average high is 83) for this time of year, but the humidity will be running at low levels. You won't have to worry about breaking into an instant sweat while you enjoy all the festivities of the day.
Whether you are BBQing, hosting a pool party, getting to the beach, checking out a parade or commuting through the region to the Catskills, you will find ideal weather all day long. Friday night will be just picture perfect for any fireworks display to go off.
The rest of the holiday weekend looks just as marvelous but with more humidity building up, gradually, through the weekend. By Sunday afternoon, it will be more noticeably humid.
Next week, unsettled weather moves in. Expect daily shower and storm chances, with temps feeling warm and humid.
