Police have identified the man who was shot and killed in Prospect Park South as 41-year-old Andy Desravines.
Officers say they responded to a 911 call just after 8:30 p.m. Friday and found Desravines with gunshot wounds to the leg and stomach. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
A hospital blanket, gloves, and pieces of cloth with dried blood were still on the street Saturday morning.
News 12 spoke with Desravines’ family, who asked for privacy and did not want to appear on camera. One member said Andy’s was going to turn 42 tomorrow.
Residents also told News 12 that Desravines just got off the train from work and was walking along East 18th Street when he was shot.
Surveillance video from the scene shows people turning toward the sound of commotion moments before police arrived. Residents say an argument was heard before the shooting and that it appeared the gunman was targeting another person.
Neighbors say Desravines lived with his mother and often cared for her.
No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
