A New Hempstead woman accused of keeping two dogs in poor living conditions is facing animal abuse charges, according to police.
Authorities say an officer visited the 37-year-old’s residence to investigate a separate matter weeks ago.
While at the scene, he noticed two dogs who appeared to be in poor health tied outside.
Investigators say the animals lacked basic necessities including food, water and shelter.
The woman was arrested, and the dogs were taken to receive veterinary care.
