Westchester legislators have passed County Executive Rob Astorino's proposed 2015 budget.
The nearly $2 billion budget, which passed by a vote of 10-7, means no tax increase for homeowners for the fifth year in a row. There will not be any layoffs either.
The plan includes a modest spending increase of 1 percent. Millions of dollars have been restored to social services and child care programs, along with the hiring of a four-member DPW crew to stay on top of minor road repairs.
In addition, $50,000 was set aside for Ebola protective gear, golf fees are going up by $1 and more bus routes are being added to Bee-Line.
The budget will now go back to Astorino, who must sign or veto the plan within 10 days.
Democratic Majority Leader Catherine Borgia says the spending plan relied way too much on borrowing to cover operating costs. Three members of her party voted in favor of the budget.
