Traffic is flowing more smoothly after officials announced all northbound lanes along the Tappan Zee Bridge were reopened following planned lane closures.
Three lanes on the northbound side of the span were closed Friday into Saturday due to pier foundation work being done near the Rockland County shoreline for the new $3.9 billion bridge.
The lanes were expected to reopen by 2 p.m. Saturday, but authorities say the work was finished several hours ahead of schedule.
The New York State Thruway Authority also says there will be no lane closures Sunday, as originally planned.
Drivers heading over the Tappan Zee Bridge from Westchester to Rockland County say they are thankful they will no longer deal with the hassle of heavy traffic.
