As tributes to comedian Joan Rivers pour in from celebrities and fans, the community of Larchmont is remembering its former resident.
Rivers' parents moved to Larchmont back in 1954. Rivers, then known as Joan Alexandra Molinsky, often spent time with her parents at their Larchmont home. The family also attended service at the Larchmont Temple.
"She's very raucous in her comedy, but very tame here," says Larchmont resident Carol Scharff, who added that Rivers often kept a low profile when visiting the town.
Rivers wrote about her life in Larchmont in her book, "Enter-Talking." The book is now part of a memorial display that has been put up at the Larchmont Public Library.
Rivers last performed in the Hudson Valley on May 3 at the Paramount Theater in Peekskill.
