Iona Prep hosted a basketball game on Tuesday to end its summer sports programs for differently-abled students.
Students from the school teamed up with differently-abled students – thanks to a partnership with the South East Consortium for Special Services. The event brings students of all abilities together to allow those who are often excluded to participate in sports and social activities.
Both groups got together twice a week to focus on team building, inclusivity and sports activities.
"It feels good to know that you're helping someone,” said student Tylan Mercadel.
Some students told News 12 they hope there will be a unified team at school in the fall.
