Several Hudson Valley leaders visited the United States-Mexico border on Wednesday as a migrant problem grows in New York.
Over 60 GOP leaders met in Eagle Pass, Texas to speak with U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, as well as Texas officials. Eagle Pass is a port of entry where many migrants are processed.
“It is the responsibility of Congress and the administration,” said Rep. Mike Lawler. “And so far, this administration has refused to do anything about the border and that's why we are dealing with this catastrophe.”
White House officials say that Republicans' consistent refusal to vote for President Joe Biden’s border funding year after year is "hamstringing" border security.
Republicans are also threatening to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for his handling of the conflict.
