Residents across the Hudson Valley are picking up the pieces this morning after heavy rain and winds lead to numerous road closures on Monday

After over 24 hours post-heavy rain, the Saw Mill River Parkway is finally reopened in both directions.  The southbound lanes reopened shortly before 7 a.m. today and the northbound side was flowing once again around 8:30 a.m.

Numerous closures were reported along the Saw Mill River Parkway, where a News 12 photographer, John Dulak, encountered an elderly driver stranded in floodwaters. John assisted the man to safety. This incident underscores the critical importance of avoiding flooded roads.

Westchester County police also confirm the reopening of the Bronx River Parkway after extensive flooding Monday. The closure of both lanes along the Bronx River Parkway from White Plains' County Center down to Yonkers persisted into the overnight hours.

Multiple areas across the county experienced inundation after stormwater systems exceeded capacity, causing flooding on roads like Nepperhan Avenue in Yonkers. City workers worked tirelessly pumped water for hours to restore road access.
