Members of the Health Care Workers Union rallied in Mount Vernon and New Rochelle today to get their new contract signed off on.

The hospital employees, who protested at Mount Vernon Hospital and Sound Shore Medical Center, want Sound Shore Medical System CEO John Spicer to sign their new contract, which workers claim was supposed to be signed back in November. They're now accusing Spicer of stalling, and want him to be fair when paying their benefits.

"Other people have their contracts," said Margarita Santiago, a Medicaid representative. "They've gone through two or three raises already, and we're working side by side with peers doing the same work for less."

Workers at Sound Shore Medical Center say they don?t receive benefits they're entitled to, because management never sends in information to union headquarters, and their benefits end up getting terminated. They say their peaceful protests will continue until an agreement is decided upon.

News 12 Westchester has reached out to hospital management repeatedly for comment and has gotten no response.
