The driver of a car involved in a high-speed crash on the Taconic State Parkway is being treated for two broken legs, while his passenger is clinging onto life in the hospital.
Police say the driver lost control of his car after zooming through the Taconic near Underhill Ave. in Yorktown. He veered off the road, police say, and then plowed into some trees, turning over in the process.
Troopers say the accident happened before 6:30.
All lanes of traffic heading southbound were immediately closed so EMS crews could try to rescue the victims and clean up the crash.
New York State Police are investigating the exact cause of the accident. No charges have been filed against the driver.
