A Rockland County high school had to be evacuated today after a bomb threat was found etched on the walls.
North Rockland School administrators say a threat was found by security in a bathroom around 9 a.m. and considered serious enough to put emergency procedures into effect. "I'm not going to be specific [about] what was written. It was very vague. Not specific in terms of where or when something would happen. So we didn't deem it to be an extreme threat, but it was enough to evacuate the building," says school Principal Michael Gill.
The students stood outside the High School on Hammond Road in Theills while Haverstraw police and Rockland Sheriff's deputies did a full search with bomb-sniffing dogs. After an hour, the police cleared everyone to go back inside.
Police say the threat is being taken seriously and is under investigation.
