Here are some stories making headlines across the Hudson Valley.
The identity of the Mount Vernon man killed in a motorcycle crash on the Bronx River Parkway has been released. The victim's family confirms to News 12 that 20-year-old Errol Nelson was the driver. County police say he was killed around 2 p.m. Monday after he lost control and crashed just south of the Yonkers Avenue exit, north of the city line. Police say no other cars seem to have been involved in this. Nelson leaves behind a 3-year-old son.
A Bronx man has been convicted in a fatal shooting in Yonkers. The Westchester District Attorney's office says Alexis Rose, 37, was convicted of second-degree murder, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal contempt. Authorities say Rose fatally shot 41-year-old Shaun Hutchinson, of Pennsylvania, in March 2021. They say it happened on Warburton Avenue, where Hutchinson was helping a woman and a son he had fathered move out. He faces up to 25 years to life.
The Greenburgh Drug and Alcohol Task Force say the Scarsdale Convenience smoke shop is now closed after inspections. Authorities say nearly 700 THC products were found in the shop at 455 South Central Ave. -- that doesn't have the license to sell. In addition, almost 400 packs of untaxed cigarettes were found too. The store was also issued 84 building code violations by the Town of Greenburgh Building Department. The store will stay closed until further notice.
