Homeless pets in Elmsford will soon have a place to stay until they're adopted.
The Greenburgh Town Board voted Wednesday to grant Paws Crossed Animal Rescue the authorization to operate a no-kill shelter.
The shelter will open at 100 Warehouse Lane South in Elmsford, where former animal shelter Pets Alive operated until it shut down in September due to declining revenue.
The animals there at the time were moved to a no-kill shelter in Orange County. The town of Greenburgh then took ownership of the empty building.
The shelter will open its doors sometime this summer.
