Thousands will be making their way to Mclean Avenue to celebrate the annual Yonkers St. Patrick's Day parade.

The eve before the big days means bars along the ave focused on any final preparations.

"My parents and myself are from Ireland. Most of my friends are Irish. You know, my neighbors, a lot of Irish bars around. So, you know, everybody truly comes together for this holiday. It's one of the biggest days of the year here," said Yonkers resident Joseph McDaid.

No parking signs are hung and barrers sit on street corners waiting to be placed.

"It's a long day, it's a really busy day," said bartender Paul Kelly.

Working the night before the parade means not going home until the bar is stocked and ready to go.

"Just making sure we've got lots of beer, lots of glassware, bottles," said Kelly. "Bottles of liqour, lots of Jameson of course, very important. Guinness."

If you plan on visiting the bars, just know you'll see an increase in security.

"We have the exits properly held down and the biggest thing is, you know, we want people to have fun, but it's got to be a safe fun," said Rory Dolans head of security, Conan McLaughlin.

McLaughlin says they'll have eyes everywhere and they'll be checking ID's at the door.

"You want to make sure people are not coming in here too intoxicated, because that's just a dangerous situation," said McLaughlin. "It's a family day. You know, there's little kids outside and they're outside all day. They're outside with their mothers and their fathers, and you don't want the craziness that goes on downtown."

The parade starts at one p.m. Road closures start at 11:30 a.m. and won't reopen until 6 p.m.
