Gov. Cuomo thanked Alibaba Group founder and Brooklyn Nets owner Joe Tsai for his donation of 1,000 ventilators on Saturday.
A day earlier, Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued an executive order requiring that ventilators be taken from facilities not using them, to be sent to hard hit areas, including New York City.
“There are hospitals that have PE equipment they're not using, we need to redistribute them," he said.
However, state Sen. James Skoufis (D-39th District) says no ventilators will be taken from hospitals in Orange or Rockland counties due to the high number of cases in each location.
President Trump says he is asking states to provide his administration with daily updates on the “number of ventilators and their utilization rates.”
"This data is vitally necessary, so we can ensure ventilators are getting to the right place at the right time,” he said.
The president is also asking states with ventilators not being used to voluntarily turn them over in the fight to save lives. He thanked Oregon, which is sending 140 ventilators to New York.
