Gov. Andrew Cuomo has announced that casinos around the state can reopen on Sept. 9, and Hudson Valley casinos are overjoyed.
The facilities need enhanced air filtration systems and can operate at 25% occupancy, according to the governor.
Resorts World Catskills Casino says it is ready to reopen and spent over $1 million preparing.
News 12 is told the Monticello-based resort has a 21-point safety plan in place to keep customers and employees safe.
The plan includes temperature checks - with 100.4 Fahrenheit being the cut-off point. Masks are mandatory, plexiglass barriers will be featured at table games and select slot machines limiting the number of players at table games. There will also be 200 hand sanitizer stations present and hospital-grade MERV filters.
“We’ve installed density counters in both of our facilities to make sure that we are, by the minute, identifying the exact number of people that are in our buildings and on the casino floor,” says Meghan Taylor, of Genting New York.
Genting New York manages the two statewide Resorts World Casino locations - Queens and Monticello.
“We have to ensure a safe environment for our team members coming back and that our guests are going to be comfortable and confident in us,” says Taylor.
The Monticello casino will officially reopen at 12 p.m. on Sept. 9.
