The Girl Scouts are pioneering a program to bring names, faces and personalities to the previously unmarked graves in an African American Cemetery located within the Greenwood Union Cemetery.
After years of research, the unmarked graves are being identified thanks to the Girl Scouts' Silver Star Program.
David Thomas says the program is designed to bring children closer to history by educating them about the people buried at the site.
An entryway to the African American Cemetery was unveiled on Saturday.
