The Animal Control Officer saved a senior snapping turtle in Peekskill last week.
Police received a call Thursday that a turtle was in distress at the Riverfront Green Park. They say the officer assisted the animal and contacted Animal Nation, a nonprofit that rescues and rehabilitates wildlife.
Volunteers responded and took the turtle into their custody.
