A football bet between two superfans is helping feed hungry families in the Hudson Valley for Thanksgiving.

New York Giants fan Joe Ruback and New England Patriots fan David Kirschtel , who is also CEO of the Rockland JCC, made a bet to donate 12 turkeys to the People to People food pantry depending on which team wins this Sunday.

The men say they are using the bet as a way to get other people involved. "The fact that people don't have enough food for Thanksgiving is absolutely a shame," says Kirschtel .
Ruback, known as "The License Plate Guy" due to his vast collection, says he keeps his many license plates for good luck. Kirschtel says it's not enough to help the Giants win.

Amid the good gesture, local residents still can't resist the urge to get a good dig in on the Pats.

"I think we need to measure the weight on the turkeys, because we want to make sure they are not getting deflated," says Matt Ran, of the People to People food pantry.
