Several holiday fireworks shows fired off across the Hudson Valley Friday.
Thousands turned out in Valhalla, where live entertainment at the Kensico Dam began at 6 p.m.
Officials say the dam's construction caused the fireworks to echo, increasing the volume of the show by a multiple of three.
Signs of increased security were also plainly visible at the show. As News 12 has previously reported, police departments around the country have stepped up protection this holiday weekend amid a raised terror alert from the Department of Homeland Security.
Their efforts paid off in Valhalla, where residents and their families say they night was pleasant and safe.
