5h agoFEMA inspectors will get a chance to see Ida's damage firsthand in Rockland County.
They will take a closer look at Grandview, Nyack and Piermont.
The inspectors will survey and gather estimates of the damage, the first step before the county can be added to the major disaster declaration for funding.
The damage must exceed $1.2 million to qualify, but local leaders believe Rockland County will easily surpass that.
"A lot of homes were flooded, basements were flooded, rocks came down the hillside and accumulated on people's homes in the streets on Piermont Avenue, it was bad," says Piermont Village Mayor Bruce Tucker.
It will take a few days for FEMA to decide if Rockland is added to the disaster declaration.
