A man who was severely burned in a fire in his Stony Point garage has died.

Stony Point police say 84-year-old Matt Waldron died Sunday at the Westchester Medical Center.

Waldron and his wife Eleanor both suffered burns. She is in serious condition at the medical center.

Police say a small propane heater was the apparent source of the fire, but not the cause.

Police say the Waldron family has roots in Stony Point going back 150 years.
