The East Ramapo Board of Education approved a revised budget for the 2024-2025 school year Thursday.

It comes more than a week after the board's initial budget was shot down by voters.

That budget was around $332 million and included a 1.99% taxy levy increase.

The revised budget is for the same amount but has a 1% increase.

The school board already met earlier this week but board members clashed over what to do and an answer wasn't reached.

On Thursday night, the board voted six to two to approve the revisions. That budget will now go to voters who will cast their ballots in the June 18 election.

Some parents tell News 12, they don't think the tax increase in the revised budget is enough and they believe their children deserve more.

"We want the same as other kids, we don't want less, we want the same because our kids deserve it," says Mercy Carabajo, who is a parent of a student in the East Ramapo School District.
