Two Yorktown Heights homeowners say they have their dog to thank for alerting them to a fire on their property.
Flames erupted Sunday night at a barn being used as a garage at 2717 Old Yorktown Rd. According to fire officials, the residents? dog started barking just after 11 p.m., waking them up. They looked out the window and saw the barn on fire. A neighbor called 911.
Though no one was hurt, both cars in the barn were destroyed. It took about 25 minutes to put out the fire, according to authorities. Police are investigating where and how the fire started.
