Doctors are still seeing patients during this coronavirus pandemic, but many are now relying on digital visits to keep everyone safe. 

Physicians at New York-Presbyterian are now doing nearly all medical appointments through video chat.

People who may be sick do not have to leave their homes, and health care professionals can avoid being exposed to the virus. "I can see what you look like, I can see if your breathing is labored, I can see if you're using what we call accessory muscles for respiration, or if you're getting short of breath just in conversation. I can see the color. A sick person looks sick," says Dr. Michael Ford, a primary care physician at New York-Presbyterian Medical Group.

The doctor also says he believes these types of appointments will become more popular in the future, but they do not replace the yearly “in-office" check-up.
