Nearly 200 Yonkers residents were without gas after a Con Edison contractor struck a gas line on Curran Court.
The gas line that was damaged provides gas for several buildings on the Yonkers Housing Authority property, including the central administrative building.
A News 12 source says nearly 20 employees were evacuated Thursday afternoon after a strong smell of gas filled their office building.
According to a spokesperson for Con Edison, a contractor was on scene at the Municipal Housing Authority for Yonkers to look into a possible gas leak. While working, the contractor damaged what is called a gas service line.
