An Eastchester man has been sentenced for allowing his unlicensed teenage daughter to drive his SUV, resulting in a deadly crash.
In a Wayne County, Pennsylvania court room, Michael Ware, 54, was sentenced to six and 1/2 to 16 years in prison. He pleaded guilty last month to three counts of involuntary manslaughter in Pennsylvania. He will begin serving his sentence immediately in Pennsylvania.
The judge referred to the accident as "preventable, irresponsible, reckless, stupid and selfish."
Last August, he allowed his daughter, Julia Ware, then 15 years old, to drive his SUV while carrying four friends from their Poconos summer home.
While speeding, police say Julia lost control of the vehicle, which flipped over, killing three of her 15-year-old passengers.
Julia, who was charged with vehicular homicide as a juvenile, is on indefinite probation. She will serve 300 hours of community service, and she isn't allowed to drive.
