Counseling sessions were held at Ardsley High School Saturday after a 17-year-old student was killed in a car crash Thursday night.
Police say a Jeep, driven by 50-year-old Jamie Paucar, was traveling westbound in the eastbound lane on the Cross-Westchester Expressway. The Jeep then crashed into a BMW, causing the Jeep to roll over.
Investigators say 17-year-old Eric Goldberg and 57-year-old Jordan Wachtell
were both killed.
"Our crisis team has implemented a plan, and part of that plan today, on an off day from school, is to create an opportunity for our community to come together, and our students, family, anyone, to meet, to have support with counselors and or therapy dogs that are here," said Ardsley School Superintendent Dr. Ryan Schoenfeld.
School officials say Wachtell, the driver of the BMW, was driving teens to a non-school-related basketball event when the crash happened. Two other teenagers in the car that stuck were serious hurt.
Police say Paucar is expected to be recover. Police added that charges are pending.
As the community continues to mourn, funeral arrangements for Goldberg have been finalized.
A former classmate of Goldberg created a
GoFundMe page in his honor.
Police are investigating the crash.
