Police are looking into a whether there is a possible connection between a deadly shooting in Yonkers and a deadly hit-and-run in the same city.
Investigators say that two men were shot while sitting inside a car on Lake and Morningside avenues just after 1:30 p.m. They say 33-year-old Kenneth Hill was shot in the neck and died at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx. The second victim, a 37-year old man who was hit in the shoulder, is in stable condition at Jacobi Medical Center.
Police believe the gunman shot with a purpose. "We do not believe this was a random act, and these individuals were targeted," says Yonkers Police Commissioner Charles Gardner.
Sources tell News 12 that authorities are looking into whether the latest shooting is connected to a fatal hit-and-run on Warburton Avenue in April, which claimed the life of Glynis Pinto. Carla Scott is facing manslaughter charges in connection with the hit-and-run. Pinto's family members and friends say the suspect and victim were fighting over a man, and Kenneth Hill could be that man, according to sources. "He dated both Carla and Glynis. I heard Carla was threatening Kenneth after she got arrested. So she could've been the one who got him killed," says friend Nikeyma Haskins.
Authorities have not confirmed the exact relationship between the hit-and-run and Tuesday's shooting. They say while some of the people involved in both crimes may be connected, it doesn't necessarily mean the crimes are linked.
